Originally a partnership between Jack and Roz Kirby, Ray Wyman Jr., and Kevin Eastman, Blue Rose Press was formed to manage The Art of Jack Kirby. Incorporated in 1992, the company operated until its last shipment went out in 1994.
Now the label is back, with a new partnership devoted to finishing and preserving work related to Jack Kirby’s life and legacy.

The Kirby Tapes
What do you do with 30-plus hours of recorded conversations with Jack Kirby? Recorded between 1989 and 1993, the tapes outlived the work on The Art of Jack Kirby.
In one of her last conversations with Ray, Roz made him repeat his promise: absolutely NOBODY would get their hands on the tapes until Ray had gone through them and made sure nothing could harm Jack’s reputation. So the tapes sat in a shoebox for decades. Then one day, Ray dragged out the box and listened again.
And that’s where this journey begins.
The tapes were in rough shape. Recorded on tiny cassettes, some had broken and couldn’t be recovered. Most, though, survived digitization. They reveal intimate details about Jack’s childhood on New York’s Lower East Side, meeting Roz, and serving as a draftee soldier in World War II Europe. Jack also talked about some of the most painful experiences of his career. Presented as a memoir,
The Kirby Tapes combines excerpts from the recordings with Ray’s contemporaneous notes. Currently in development.

Novel: The Horde
"The Horde" is a science fiction novel based on an unfinished collection of treatments and story ideas by Jack Kirby. Set in the late 21st Century, the story follows the rage of a former military officer armed with a hazardous weapon that can trigger mass panic and rage among humans. The story takes place in a not-distant future where unexpected heroes work to stop the madness and save civilization as we know it. Jack began writing "The Horde" in the mid-1970s and continued to write treatments for the story through the 80s. He reached out to Ray Wyman Jr. and Peter Burke and offered them the task of completing his ambitious project with new ideas about where he believed the story should go. The journey to finalize "The Horde" has been a challenging yet rewarding experience that stays true to Jack's visionary narrative. The complete vision is to present the story as a trilogy, with additional stories as time and life permit. Currently in development.

Published in 1992 by Blue Rose Press, "The Art of Jack Kirby" is an iconic book that pays homage to the King of Comics. Written and researched by Ray Wyman Jr., this book offers a detailed biography, an exhaustive bibliography, and near full-size prints of Jack's best covers. It was the first feature book dedicated to a single comic book artist at its release and remains a definitive resource for fans and researchers alike. The book’s creation was a collaborative effort, with significant contributions from Jack's wife, Roz, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator, Kevin Eastman, and many fans and researchers who participated in building a unique timeline of Jack’s work, a first-of-its-kind checklist of Jack's published work, and a wonderful collection of full-page images of his artistry. "The Art of Jack Kirby" is a tribute to Jack's indelible mark on the comic book industry and his enduring influence on popular culture. Available from Amazon and digitally from Google.
